Enhanced low-frequency vibration energy harvesting with inertial amplifiers

Piezoelectric vibration energy harvesters have demonstrated the potential for sustainable generation from diverse ambient sources in context of low-powered micro-scale systems. However, challenges remain concerning harvesting more power low-frequency input excitations and broadband random excitations. To address this, here we propose a purely mechanical approach by employing inertial amplifiers with cantilever piezoelectric harvesters. The proposed mechanism can achieve amplification amounting to orders magnitude under certain conditions. Harmonic, as well excitations, are considered. Two types circuits, namely, without an inductor, been employed. We explicitly demonstrate how different parameters describing should be optimally tuned maximise harvested circuit configurations. It is possible harvest five times at 50% lower frequency when excitation harmonic. Under it 10 selected parameters.
